Plum is truly a business that bears fruit.
The Vancouver women's fashion store is celebrating 25 years in business. Over that period it's indelibly etched itself and its products into Western Canada's retail-fashion industry.
Plum was launched by owner Kate O'Brien with just $5,000 in a 750-square-foot vintage shop in Kitsilano. In 1983, her husband Ed des Roches joined the company. He handles the finances and O'Brien leads the design team and is head buyer.
The store quickly bloomed from its seedling stage and today offers its own private labels and a variety of fashionable lines at nine locations in the Lower Mainland, Victoria, Kelowna and Calgary.
